Dear Santa

Dear Santa,
All I want for Christmas this year is Father of the Bride on DVD. It's my most favoritestest movie in the whole wide world and I only have it on VHS (so yesterday, I know) and the tracking is all messed up on it:( I even want this more than that super cute coat I found at Forever 21! So I hope you understand how much I want this...

*Hope Santa reads my blog*

How I Popped the Question...

I got all the bridesmaids and flower girls antique lockets and put the question inside.

For the girls that live close, I gave them a wedding cake flavored cupcake with the locket on top.

I couldn't exactly mail a cupcake to the girls that live far away, so I mailed them the locket like the picture above. I didn't even put a note inside the envelope... just the locket with the question inside of it. (It was more mysterious that way.)

I gave my ring bearer a wedding cake flavored cupcake with a ring pop on top. (Get it? Ring bearer...ring pop... yeah.)

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you know that I got engaged recently! I can't believe I didn't blog about it! I've been slacking in the blog department, but I'm going to try to do better. Right after I got engaged, my life got totally crazy (crazy in a good way)! My fiance and I are currently working on our wedding website and I'll post the link here when it's done. It will have the whole engagement story, engagement pictures, etc...

Today I wanted to share with you guys how I recently asked my bridesmaids, flower girls, and ring bearer to be in the wedding. Most of my bridesmaids and the flower girls live in a different state, so I didn't want to just call them up to ask them to be in the wedding (BOOORING). I wanted to ask them in a fun way! I posted the pictures above...

Things To Check Off My Bucket List

I've gotten to do a few things recently that I've been wanting to do for a very long time...

You guys have no idea how bad I've always wanted to wear a character costume. I secretly (not so secret anymore, I guess) want to be a mascot for a sports team or a character who walks around at theme parks/other events. Well, my dream finally came true the other day. I got to be a chocolate milk bottle! Unfortunately, I only got to wear it around my house, but I was ok with that! It was definitely everything I ever hoped for and more.

Something else that's been on my list to do for a while is make homemade sushi. Brandon and I randomly decided to go get the stuff to make it the other night. It was so fun, easy, and turned out delicious!

I've also been wanting to go to a corn maze! I've never been to one before and it seemed like the perfect fall activity, so Brandon and I went the other day. The maze was a little lame. I think it was designed for 4 year olds, but it was still fun to enjoy the pretty weather and at least PRETEND we were lost and couldn't find our way back (even though we could see the entrance from the back of the maze).

Happy Ketchup Day!!!!

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, then you've seen that I have declared today "Ketchup Day". Yes, I do qualify to do such a thing. I have a certificate that says, "Person who gets to declare Ketchup Day". In honor of this special, tomatoey day, I've taken a few photos. Don't be shy, share some of your own Ketchup Day photos! Now if we could all raise our ketchup bottles and make a toast to the first and BEST Ketchup Day ever! CHEERS!

"the ashley store" Update

Ello there! Just wanted to let everyone know that I haven't been able to add more items to "the ashley store" this week, because I've been out of town. I won't get home until the middle of next week, but as soon as I get back, I'll be adding more! This is a lame post. Lame. Lame. Lame.

Goodbye.

My Pretty Pink House (someday)

One day this is going to be my pink house. I have one small eeeetie beeeetie problem though.... I don't know where to find this pink house:( Hopefully it's in Tennessee so that I don't have to move far away. Wherever it is, I'm going to find it and I'm going to live there 'til I'm wrinkly and gray. And it's going to be awesome.

Just thought you all should know that. That is all. Thank you.

the ashley store

It's up! It's up! "the ashley store" is up! There isn't much up there yet, but new items will be added almost weekly. Just a reminder of what the store is, I'm putting together outfits with various vintage items. I've done the shopping, I've done the styling, and if you like it, the pieces will be for sale! You can do your own mixing and matching. I've just given you some ideas of how you can put it all together. Hope you enjoy:)

My Online Store!

Wish you had someone to do your clothes shopping for you AND show you how to put them together to create an outfit that has not been done before? Want to stay on top of the latest trends, but need help on how to do that? I'm opening an online store that will help with all of these things! A lot of the items in the store will be thrift. Thrift stores are the absolute BEST places to find unique, vintage clothing that you won't be able to find anywhere else. Not everything in the store will be thrift, but most of it will be. If you like an item in the store, but aren't sure how to wear it, no worries! I'll be putting up pictures of how I've incorporated each of the items into an outfit. The store won't just have clothes. It will also have accessories and any other fun things I find. I've already been out doing some shopping for you! Above is a peek at a few of the items that will be in the store. Oh yeah and the best part of all, you'll find that all of the items in the store are at ridiculously low prices! That's the only way to shop.

Another thing I've been working on (that will also be in the online store) is designing shirts! I have access to a screen printer, so I'll actually be making them myself! I have the shirts already ordered and tonight, the screen printing process begins! Hopefully I'll have some up in the next week or so. The store will be up and running SOON!

Stay tuned, friends.

Need help breaking the news to your hunny? I CAN HELP!

Sometimes ya just gotta tell 'em how it is. I present to you... "Hunny, You're Not Funny". (And no, this is not about MY boyfriend, haha.)

My Obsession Lately

AHHHH!!!!!!! I can't get enough of black and white stripes! No seriously, whoever came up with this pattern, I want to marry you (but not really). I'd wear a form of black and white stripes everyday if i could, but then I'd be a "pattern repeater" which is like an "outfit repeater" and we just can't have that. The possibilities are endless when it comes to building an outfit around black and white stripes. You can do anything you freakin' want to and it will look cute! Sorry for my overexcitement about something as lame as this, but it's just really got me pumped.

My Thrifty Finds

These bottoms are the only part of this outfit that's thrift. It looks a lot like a skirt, but they're actually high-waisted shorts! When I first bought them, I couldn't decide if they were really really ugly or really really cute. Once I started messing around with different ways to wear them, I loved them!

OH. MY. GOODNESS. The second I spotted this necklace, I was in love! It looks like an antique and I got it for only $5.99 at Goodwill!

These ivory elephants have already become some of my favorite earrings I own! They seriously can go with anything.

I've really been into thrift store shopping lately. Thrift clothes are taking over my closet! I love finding unique pieces and putting them together to create an outfit that no one else has. Thrift store shopping can be overwhelming, because there is so much random stuff to go through. Sometimes when I'm not in the mood to look through everything, I just skip over all the boring solids and look only for unique patterns that catch my eye. However, the disadvantage of not going through everything is that you might miss out on a great find! Above are some pictures of some of my latest thrift finds!

I'll be posting things I find from thrift stores more often, just to show you what great things you can find and how I've put them together to create an outfit that expresses my own sense of style.

Automatic Doors

Just a little story I had to share with you guys about my encounter with some not so automatic doors...

I was in a store the other day... I made my purchases and headed to the door. I stood at the "automatic" doors to wait for them to open. They were taking a long time, so I thought maybe I wasn't registering. I waved my hands in front of the doors to make sure it saw me. I kept standing there, thinking that any minute it would open. Any other human being would have given up a long time ago and just pushed the doors open. Not me. After looking ridiculous long enough, the cashier walked over and as she opened the door for me, she said.. "Ma'am, you have to push them yourself. They're not automatic." Wow, did I feel like an idiot or what. So I put my head down in shame, tucked my tail between my legs, and walked out.

My tip for you: If the doors don't open within about 5 seconds of standing there, THEY'RE NOT AUTOMATIC.

I came across this picture and laughed. I sure wish they had a "Doors don't open" sign on the door I was in front of. Could have saved me a lot of time and humiliation!

Goodbye, Beach

Alas, all good things must come to an end. We're packing up and heading home this morning:( Good news! We've already started planning for next year! I would just like to compare skin color from the first day we got to the beach to the last day. Gonna miss the tannage. See you next year, Seaside!

Ello From The Beach!

Every summer, for the past 7 years, my family has been coming to the beach in Florida. There are about 21 (sometimes more) of us and we all stay in one big house. The house is always so packed, but I LOVE it! We look forward to this every year! My family lives in Texas and we don't get to see them very often, so having this trip every summer has been a great way to help keep the family close. We only have 1 day left at the beach, then the countdown until next year begins!

Ashley Got a Blog!

I finally gave in and got a blog! I have too much going on in this brain of mine to be contained by Twitter's lame 140 character limit. My brain is always going 100mph and it never stops. EVER. I have a lot to say and I don't like to keep anything to myself, so get ready. I'm amused by the little things in life. I don't exactly see things the way everyone else does... it's too boring that way.  This will probably be the most random blog you will ever read, but that's my life for ya. Welcome to "the ashley show"!

Peace, love, and PICKLES. (I love pickles. Dill pickles.)
